Jeannine Murray-Román (JMR)

Independent scholar : Caribbean Studies, Postcolonial Theory.

My research focuses on Caribbean literary and cultural studies, and is grounded in comparative, performance, and digital methodologies. I’ve published articles devoted to Taylor Mac's manifestos, Roque Salas Rivera's debt and poiesis, and Fanon's medical writing in journals including in Interventions, French Screen Studies, New Centennial Review, small axe, among others. My monograph, Performance and Personhood in Caribbean Literature, was published by the University of Virginia Press in February, 2016.

My current book project, “Changing Imaginaries,” explores Caribbean artists’ hand-made cognitive experiments in transforming their political imaginaries.
