Since 2004, I have been teaching writing and language, starting at UCLA as graduate teaching assistant and postdoc where I taught freshman composition courses, Reed College in the French department, and Florida State University, where I was an Assistant and then Associate Professor of Modern Language and Linguistics in the French and Spanish programs. There, I taught :

• writing-intensive intermediate undergraduate seminars in English,

• French and Spanish literary and cultural studies advanced undergraduate and graduate seminars,

• basic language in Spanish, intermediate conversation and grammar courses in French and Spanish.

Having left academia to come home to San Francisco and Silicon Valley and the South Bay, I now work as a writing and language tutor, and continue my research as an independent scholar.

Even before my career as an instructor, I have been a writing tutor and coach: as an undergrad at Dartmouth, I was a peer tutor for the Writing Center, and while earning my Ph.D. from UCLA in Comparative Literature, I worked at the Graduate Writing Center. There, I helped create writing boot camps, and workshops focused on the dissertation, conference presentations, and genres of the academic job for fellow graduate students. That's where I learned how to coach peers and students in creating individualized strategies for drafting and shaping their writing environments to support their strengths. psychological dimensions of our writing environments.

 Now, alongside the precise compositional strategies developed for writing genres from persuasive to document-based essays, I support students in identifying the specific conditions and tools that help them write with ease and confidence.
